The Art of breathing

My passion is helping people to breathe better, You may ask what do you mean breathe better, are we not just naturally breathing all the time? The truth is most people who sit at computers on a daily basis breathe only very shallow. The rib cage doesn't move very much and possibly that person will have tightness in their upper or lower back. Recently while I was away teaching at a retreat my husband ( renowned mouth breather) went to the Doctor for a check up and whilst there she performed a Spirometry a simple lung function test and it was discovered that his lung capacity was only 64%, she gave him some asthmatic medication and said a simple puff in the morning would suffice and help him, so when I came home to this I was adamant that he didn't really need this medication and we agreed that for 90 days we would strengthen his lungs by performing a breath meditation known as one minute breath. This involves sitting for a time trying to inhale slowly for up to 20 seconds, then holding the breath in for up to 20 seconds and then exhaling very slowly for up to 20 seconds. Of course trying to achieve this straight away is no mean feat especially if you have a reduced lung capacity so we started for 5 seconds each and slowly built up over a period of time to the full times. We got permission from his doctor who was eager to see this experiment and over the next 90 days sat together building our times up to 11 minutes. It took approximately  6 weeks to achieve this and from them on it became easier for him to achieve AND he enjoyed it! In fact even his morning cough disappeared and his walking improved (just added side effects) On completion of the 90 days performing One Minute Breath he returned to the Doctor and had another Spirometry test and the results speak for themselves. His Lung functionality had increased to 95%! so no need for the Medication
If you need some assistance in helping to strengthen your breath consider trying this Meditation before reaching for Medication or connect with me via Skype or Zoom.

Journey Through the Chakras

Picture
Ekam Out & About, Sat 17 September Journey Through the Chakras with Kundalini YogaChakras are energy centres which absorb life-force or prana from the Universe and distribute it through the Nadis (energy channels) to the nervous system, endocrine glands and circulatory system. They are centres of consciousness that have a direct and profound effect on our daily lives. Each Chakra influences and vitalises a different aspect of our being Each tunes us into a frame of reference for experiencing the world. Our goal is to tap into each Chakra and align ourselves so we can live full and conscious lives In this class, we balance the chakras through Asana, Pranayam, Mudra, Mantra, Meditation and The Gong.
Sivana Bliss Studio, 17 Hillcrest Ave – Sat, 17 Sep @ 2-3.30 pm  $20

Kundalini Yoga for Childhood Trauma new class

This course is an evidence based ten week course for people
who have experienced stress or trauma in their younger years.
Research shows that the body stores trauma in muscle tissue and brain. The effects of stored trauma can include nightmares, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, insomnia, fear and a compromised immune system. Stored trauma can also lead to negative self defeating behaviour patterns, substance abuse and addiction. This specialised yoga program addresses the underlying causeof trauma and helps you to restore, recover and renew your rhythmic strength and reconnect with your original self. The classes are a combination of powerful physical and mental exercises, breathwork and meditations that were put together to target the areas of stored trauma and dis-regulation. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Pre – Registration is required prior to the first class, all classes will be held at Sivana Bliss

What Our Clients Are Saying

I am halfway through the Kundalini for Beginners course and LOVE it!! Jaye is a wonderful teacher, and the course has been great for completely letting go of ego, appreciating and focusing on the breath and deep relaxation. I love the gongs during relaxation. Completely different to other yoga classes/courses and compliments other forms of yoga perfectly
